FREE Production Accounting Workshop on Dec. 10

Indie Grants and the South Carolina Film Commission will host a Production Accounting workshop on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 1-4pm at Trident Technical College’s North Charleston campus.

Presented by Production Accountant Andrew Chalk (The Righteous Gemstones, Shrill), the workshop will be a general overview of production accounting, including budgeting, cost reporting, and day-to-day operations. Andrew and representatives from the South Carolina Film Commission will also touch on accounting and auditing related to the state’s motion picture incentive program.

The training will be especially constructive for those with a background or interest in general accounting, with discussion on incorporating those skills into a career in the production industry (where there is a significant need for Accountants).

Production Accountant positions exist on various tiers and are responsible for managing finances and maintaining financial records during film or TV production. Working closely with the producer and the production office, the job includes preparing schedules and budgets for film productions and managing the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting against the budgets. The average annual salary is approximately $60,300, with salaries ranging from $50,000 to $200,000. Production Accountants typically work on a freelance basis.
